Monotype is a method of printmaking that results in one-of-a-kind prints. It is experimental, immediate, and images can be as simple or as complex as you choose. In this class, we will manipulate ink on plexiglass plates to create multilayered images. We will be printing without a press, so everything you learn here can also be done in the home studio.
Catherine Sollman is a printmaker with over 20 years of experience who has taught privately and in the high school setting. She is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Having continued her studies at Anchor Graphics, Spudnik Press, and Frogman’s Print Workshop among others, she works out of her home studio, focusing on monotype and relief.
